In 1990, when his Colorado McDonald's restaurants were bleeding money, Steve Bigari suggested slashing benefits. His boss's response: Take care of your employees, and they'll help you take care of business. Bigari later sold the shops and is now devoting his life to the working poor of Colorado Springs through America's Family, a foundation he began in 2002 to attack poverty in myriad ways.
