Once working out of a basement clinic, Steven Levin, MD, now provides primary care to 3,000 uninsured residents of New Brunswick, New Jersey. On behalf of his patients, 47-year-old Dr. Levin has wrangled top-quality lab-testing equipment from Roche Laboratories, and convinced the Medical Society of New Jersey to start a program that lets lower-income patients see specialists at a reduced cost or free. His dedication has earned him the 2007 Family Physician of the Year award from the American Academy of Family Physicians.
