This spring, lucky residents of Corpus Christi, Texas, can tote their laptops to hot spots throughout the city and receive free wireless Internet service. The city will also offer free access to a community portal with local info on health care, education and business. Municipal Wi-Fi service is a growing trend embraced by Boston, San Francisco and other tech hubs whose residents can't stand not being connected.
