Voted off American Idol in 2004, Jennifer Hudson, 25, went on to beat out scores of hopefuls for the role of Effie White in Dreamgirls, delivering a powerhouse performance on the big screen that earned her an Oscar and a Golden Globe. The Chicago native, who began singing in church at the age of seven, is proof that no dream is beyond reach.
