With One Question
When it comes to your credit card bill, financial experts advise carrying a balance no higher than 8 percent of your gross household income - for the U.S. average of $50,303, that's around $300 a month. Of course, many Americans owe a lot more than that. In our latest global survey, though, respondents in ten countries report they're carrying even bigger balances than we are. In Italy, for example, 29 percent say they owe between one and six months' salary. In the Philippines, 22 percent admit they owe more than six months' salary. Only 10 percent of U.S. respondents said the same.
