![]() Fred Bryant and his family were driving south on Interstate 35, toward home in Waxahachie, Texas, when a car and an 18-wheeler collided. Bam! Shards of steel and glass spiraled through the air. As the semi erupted in flames, Fred, 58, sprinted to the crash site. Scanning the car for survivors, he heard a muffled cry. The truck's gas tank crackled loudly, and heat seared his face. Still, Fred slid into the car. Inside, he uncovered one-year-old Daniel Oh, the only survivor, tightly strapped into a safety seat. It took several tense minutes to free the baby as the gas tank hissed louder. Fully recovered now from his burns and broken bones, Daniel is living in Korea with his grandmother. Fred keeps in touch through letters, as if Daniel were his own grandson. |
