Hello…

Dr. Miao Yu -- An assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Maryland at College Park, Dr. Yu is perfecting a new sensor that will help locate the source of sounds, according to New Scientist. Modeled after the eardrums of a fly, the technology has practical applications for both hearing aids and emergency-rescue equipment.

Ralph Nader -- He's back. The perpetual candidate-"preserved in the amber of his own dried-up rectitude," as The New York Observer put it-is running again. Is he a candidate for the Presidency or "an entrant in the Presidential race, which is not the same thing"?

Goodbye…

Bats and bees -- White Nose Syndrome is killing bats at more than 25 sites in the northeast United States. Scientists worry that insect populations may thrive this summer as a result. Federal and university bee labs are now joining forces to discover the cause of Colony Collapse Disorder, which has killed billions of bees since 2004.

Brett Favre -- The Green Bay Packers quarterback is taking a year off from everything. "To steal a quote from [my wife] Deanna, 'See life through the front windshield, not through the rearview mirror,'" said Favre. "There are things I missed. You can't get those things back. I hope to see things through the front windshield."
