In this month's global survey, a majority of people in 9 of 16 countries say they get the recommended 7 or more hours of sleep per night. In the United States, though, nearly half of respondents aren't meeting their slumber numbers — and more women than men are racking up a sleep debt.

From April 14 to May 14 a 1-question online poll was placed on high-traffic websites in 16 countries (Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom, United States). A total of 150 respondents in each country participated in the poll.
