Mr. President: The main priority for you, and for your successors over the next thirty years, is winning the war jihadists have declared on us. Afghanistan and Iraq are but phases of it. It will require violence, cunning, generosity, wealth, and inspiration. Other presidents had challenges as hard—or harder. This is yours.
