What She's Plugging
I, Lorelei (Harper Collins, $16.99), her children's book about a sixth grader and her late-lamented cat, Mud: "It's really a story about this enduring friendship between two beings."

Where She's Surfing
"BBC News, Reuters, and the New York Times, especially stories about foreign affairs or the economy. Why would you make a bad loan as a bank? How does that happen?"
What She's Listening to
"I love the 1980s hair bands. I love Bon Jovi. I've been listening to a lot of Latin jazz lately. Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Rosemary Clooney is great, and Ella Fitzgerald—can't get enough of her."

What She's Watching
"I love Dexter. I love Law and Order, all of them. What else? I'm into The Mentalist this year. Boston Legal. They appeal to my kindergarten view of the world, where good things happen to nice people and bad people get punished. The good guys catch the bad guys, justice is done, and things are safe again."

What She's Reading
"A memoir by Monica Holloway, Driving with Dead People. She's married to a Simpsons writer. And a book by DeLauné Michel, The Safety of Secrets. I'm a tough customer, but if you can hook me-if the characters are engaging—I'm all over it."
