Our Y is so much more than a gym. We work with other community organizations to provide over 300 bags of food to local elementary students during the school year, and our staff are teachers in the public schools, retired educators, fathers, aunts, students, and those who just want to help others without recognition. We have a free class for families with children who have special needs — all are welcome! Our YMCA is becoming a place for international students to celebrate their culture. We also have a mentoring program for teens who have been in juvenile detention or are under strict probation. The goal is helping the teens learn how to make better decisions and have pride in themselves. We offer space for a community financial literacy class, at no cost for students at all! We’ve also partnered with family court to help parents learn bonding and coping skills. Positive changes!

Stories About Tiffin County YMCA

I love working for an organization that advocates for “lifestyle changes.” We usually see a drastic decline in membership and overall building occupancy after February, but not this year! With year round youth-focused sports run by community and parent volunteers, our children are learning the fundamentals of sports as opposed to focusing on just winning. Our programs for senior citizens focus on keeping them active and social, and we have a Parkinson’s class to help people maintain mobility. There’s not enough space for me to express why I love my Y!
