If you’re a city employee, such as a teacher, firefighter, police officer, or military member, you get an extra $2,500 on top of that. New Haven also gives you $30,000 in forgivable loans to make energy-savings upgrades to your home. And, because they also want you have a good education, they guarantee free in-state college tuition to any student that graduates from New Haven Public schools. If you're looking to live in a more quaint area, this town in the Swiss Alps will pay you to move there as well.

If you meet certain qualifications, one program offers you a $5,000 forgivable loan for buying a new house in the city. If you buy a distressed home, they will give you $10,000 to cover the down payment and closing costs. Another easy way you can make money is with your vacation photos.
Curtis lets you build your own home. If you construct a single-family home within a certain time period, you get the lot of land the house is built on for free. If an Italian village is more your style, hop on a plane to Candela, which also pays you to live there.
In Harmony, you can get a cash rebate for your home. The Harmony Economic Development Authority wants to encourage people to build new homes in the town, so if you do, you can get up to $12,000 back. An added bonus is that there are no restrictions based off of your current residency, income, or age. Another easy way to make money is simply by surfing the web.

Kaxline/Shutterstock If you want free land, move to Marne. All you have to do is build a new home that is a minimum of 1,200 square feet and you’ll get the land it sits on for free. But, if you’re looking to have a lot of guests over, this may not be the place for you. The population is a mere 114.
Niagara Falls, New York
Recent college graduates, you may want to pack your bags and move up to this landmark town. The city will pay out almost $7,000 of your student loans over the course of two years if you agree to live in certain neighborhoods.
New Richland, Minnesota
This town has a lot to offer. Golf courses, lakes, and bike trails are all around. If you build a new home within a year of receiving the land’s deed in certain subdivisions, the new property will be free.

The town’s population has been declining since the 1990s; to entice more residents to move there, Marquette is giving out free plots of land. To qualify, you must build your home within a year of buying the land and live there for a minimum of one year after the home is completed.
