These Credits Cards Will Guarantee You Access to Swanky Airport Lounges

Who knew credit cards had such great perks?

For much of human history, there was nothing more exclusive than flying. It was exclusive because only birds, butterflies, and pterodactyls could do it. Then the Wright Brothers came along, and the proliferation of commercial airlines took off. Now the once ineffable concept is easily accessible to nearly everyone.

Everyone can take a flight—and everyone can follow these air travel tips to get the most out of that flight—but not everyone can fly in style. Although having the necessary funds to afford a decadent in-flight cabin may be a bit out of your grasp at the moment, another swanky amenity could easily be within your grasp. It just depends on what credit card you have in your wallet.

That amenity is the airport lounge, a crossroads of relaxation and transience found in nearly every airport. But not just anyone can just stroll into one. Usually, you have to be flying first class or be a member of an airline’s rewards program to make it into one. However, there’s another way to make your way into these exclusive areas using a little old credit card.

Lifehacker compiled a list of three of their recommended cards that will grant you access to certain airport lounges. Here are the triumvirate, their costs, and their benefits:

  • Chase Sapphire Reserve
    • Membership to Priority Pass Select, which grants you access to 1,000 lounges in 500 cities around the world (You can also bring as many guests as you want with you to the lounge, free of charge, depending on the lounge’s policy)
    • Up to $28 in free food at PDX cafe
    • $300 in annual travel credit towards plane tickets, taxis, car rentals, and hotels
    • $100 dollar credit toward a TSA PreCheck or Global Entry enrollment
    • Annual fee of $450
  • American Express Platinum
    • Access to the American Express Global Lounge Collection, a network of over 1,000 lounges across 120 cities (You can also bring two guests with you for free, except at Delta’s Sky Clubs—that will cost you $29)
    • Complimentary access to Boingo Wi-Fi in airports
    • $100 dollar credit toward a TSA PreCheck or Global Entry enrollment
    • $200 annual credit for incidental airline costs (baggage fees, food, beverages)
    • $200 annual Uber credit
    • Annual fee of $550
  • Citi Prestige
    • Membership to Priority Pass Select, which grants you access to 1,000 lounges in 500 cities around the world (You can bring up to two guests, free of charge, depending on the airport lounge’s policy)
    • “4th Night Free” benefit—when you book a hotel stay of at least four nights, you get the fourth night free in the form of a statement credit
    • $250 annual credit toward tickets, baggage fees, upgrades, and other airline travel costs
    • $100 dollar credit toward a TSA PreCheck or Global Entry enrollment

There you have it. If you’re approved for one of these rectangular pieces of plastic, you’re approved to lounge. Make sure you don’t miss out on these awesome perks from seven major airlines.
