These Retailers Are Starting Black Friday Early This Year

Cross some items off your holiday list right after Halloween.

The big occasion in November is Thanksgiving, but Black Friday has evolved into something of a holiday itself. (Here’s how.) Whether you head out late Thanksgiving evening, early Friday morning, or shop all day, many of us set schedules and track prices to figure out how we’re going to get everything on our lists.

Now, we’re seeing a huge change to that highly anticipated day of deals. For some retailers, Black Friday will start in October, not November. Read on for more!

2020 will have weeks of holiday deals

In an attempt to minimize the sheer quantity of people sprinting through the doors on Black Friday, retailers like Walmart, Target, Kohl’s, and Best Buy are closing on Thanksgiving 2020.

That means rather than having one day dedicated to the lowest prices, some stores will roll out deals throughout October and November. It’s another shift in a year that’s been full of changes to our favorite stores, like Walmart and Target, as well as shopping in general.

Where can I shop early?

Target has made a point of saying its Black Friday deals will be available online earlier than usual, so customers don’t have to rush to stores on one day. Macy’s, too, says it plans to start its Black Friday sales after Halloween to cut back on the in-store crowds.

Amazon Prime Day is also being held in October now, so Prime members can shop some of the web retailer’s best deals then. Honestly, everyone benefits from not being stuck together in crowded stores. Not to mention, we’ll have plenty of shopping to look forward to all throughout fall. Just don’t do any of these things in reopened stores!
