Mornings just got a little brighter!
Good News! Costco Just Lowered Prices on This Favorite Breakfast Staple
As a community of consumers, we feel a gut punch when the price of groceries ticks up rapidly. And in this economy, that’s becoming the norm. Whether you blame it on tariffs, inflation or things simply out of anyone’s control—like that bird flu a few years ago that made buying a carton of eggs feel like a luxury—shelling out more money for groceries is disappointing either way.
But Costco does this one thing that softens the blow, and they do it as often as possible. They look for ways to lower prices on products they may have temporarily had to charge more for. “Every period, we have our budget meetings and we look at our prices, and our goal at every meeting is to find, where can we find ways to lower cost and lower prices for our members?” said Costco CFO Gary Millerchip during the company’s Q2 2025 earnings call last March.
It’s one of those things that makes a warehouse membership worth it. In fact, during that very call, they announced price drops on Kirkland Organic Peanut Butter, Tortilla Chips and Refined Olive Oil. But now they’re chopping the price on a breakfast favorite—and, well, this is pretty exciting. Read on to find out which tasty morning staple can be yours for a whole lot less.

What breakfast staple did Costco just lower prices on?

Get excited, because it’s Kirkland Signature Bacon. During Costco’s Q1 2026 earnings call on Dec. 11, 2025, Millerchip revealed that Costco’s popular bacon is getting its own price reduction. The fan favorite, in a four-count of 1-pound packages, was $18.99, and it is now being sold for $16.99—that’s about a 10.5% drop.
One of our own Reader’s Digest editors can attest to the price change. When she picked up a four-pack of Kirkland Signature Bacon on Nov. 5, it was $18.99. On Dec. 6, just a few weeks later, the same package cost $16.99.
During the December call, Millerchip reiterated Costco’s commitment to offering great value. “As always, our goal is to be the first to lower prices when we see opportunities to do so,” he said.
What other products did Costco lower prices on?
You’ll be able to bring home more than just the bacon for a bit less at Costco going forward. Here are the other Costco products talked about during the December earnings call:
- Kirkland Signature Chicken Pot Pie
Was: $4.29 per pound
Now: $3.99 per pound - Kirkland Signature Whipped Cream, 3-count
Was: $10.49
Now: $8.99 - Kirkland Signature Walnuts, 3-pound bag
Was: $14.49
Now: $12.99
Will Costco continue lowering prices in 2026?
Considering the consistent commentary from Costco’s CFO about always looking for places in the budget where they can slash costs, it’s safe to say that the company will continue to do everything in its power to lower prices. The trick is to figure out which products they can afford to do this with. Luckily, it’s become the norm for Costco to lower prices on at least a couple of products every quarter to keep members happy.
