Loretta Lynn, one of country music’s best-known divas, is also a good businesswoman. One of her most popular ventures is Loretta Lynn’s Ranch (originally Dude Ranch), about an hour’s drive west of Nashville. The place offers a variety of things to do, much of it related to Loretta’s life and career; the large Coal Miner’s Daughter Museum and the antebellum-style house where she lived for many years are musts for fans. You’ll find a replica of the Butcher’s Hollow house, where Loretta grew up, as well as a simulated coal mine. At the Grist Mill Museum visitors will be able to view Lynn’s extensive doll collection, and a Wild West town offers plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment.
RV grounds, cabin rentals, and tent camping are available, but if you want to feel like a star, you could reserve Loretta’s deluxe tour bus (featured in the movie of her life) for the night. There are also frequent special events, such as concerts, trail rides, cross-country racing, and the Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motorcross Championship.
Open Mar.–Oct. Admission charged.
