Ham and Cheese Breakfast Strata

A delightful twist on a classic favorite.

Stratas are made with layers of egg-soaked bread, cheese, and your favorite high-flavor ingredients like bacon, sausage, sun-dried tomatoes, or other vegetables. Our version includes ham and a surprisingly crisp topping made with cornflakes.

  • 12 slices white bread, crusts removed
  • 1 pound fully cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (about 8 ounces)
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard


  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Dash of cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1/4 cup minced seeded green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 cup crushed cornflakes
