This Map Breaks Down the Largest Employer in Each State
Warehouse stores, for the win!
You can’t work at a lemonade stand forever. The stock options are just terrible. On top of that, it’s not really a model that’s ripe for expansion, unless your last name happens to be Snapple. So, for the rest of the U.S., another career path needs to be chosen, but where should you look? (These are the 10 best places to work in the U.S.—and yes, they’re hiring!)
Visual Capitalist added another graphic to their informative Chart of the Week series with an eye on the U.S.’ biggest state-by-state employers. And the big blue box store that recently underwent a legal name change crushed all competition, as the biggest employer in a whopping 22 states.
The fun bit of employment cartography was done with help from data compiled by 24/7 Wall Street. All told, Walmart employs 1.5 million people across the U.S. The state with the most blue-vested employees was Florida, where 108,321 people are employed with Walmart.
The two non-Walmart sectors that dominated most of the remainder of the nation were healthcare and education. That sounds like a sound argument for including a “School of Walmart” in every college and university.
Looking for a job? You’ll want to make sure you’re up-to-date on these “soft skills” everyone should have.
