Meghan Markle Will Make This One Major Change at the Royal Wedding

Meghan Markle will make waves on her wedding day as she walks down the aisle by making a change to this conventional wedding tradition.
Some royal rules are made to be broken. In fact, some royal family members, including the Queen, have broken their own protocol on multiple occasions. Meghan Markle will also stray from tradition on her big wedding day, just before she says her vows.
Back in January, E! reported that Meghan Markle hoped to have her mother escort her down the aisle instead of her father on May 19. She is known to have a particularly close relationship with her mother, Doria Ragland, and she has never been photographed in public with her father, Thomas Markle. Mr. Markle has often been described as “reclusive,” and on May 14, Meghan confirmed that he wouldn’t be attending the wedding at all. On Friday, May 18, the day before the wedding, Kensington Palace revealed that neither of her parents would be walking her down the aisle. Instead, in a last-minute twist, she asked her future father-in-law, Prince Charles, to do so! “The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way,” Kensington Palace’s statement read.
An Us Weekly insider was quoted saying that the aisle-walking will not be the sole departure from tradition on the wedding day. “The day of the wedding itself will certainly hold a few unconventional surprises,” the insider said. “Don’t expect a royal wedding by numbers. They want to involve their friends and family as much in as much as possible throughout the day.” Here are some other ways Harry and Meghan’s wedding will make history.
Meghan Markle’s parents divorced when she was six and she was primarily raised by her mother and grandmother. However, when her engagement to Prince Harry was announced, Doria and Thomas issued a joint statement congratulating the couple through Clarence House. And though she won’t be walking her daughter down the aisle, Doria will still be playing a role on the big day; she and Meghan will be traveling to Windsor Castle together.
Once the bride-to-be joins the royal family, she likely will have to adhere to certain codes of conduct, like these etiquette rules everyone in the royal family must follow.
