The upcoming release of Trauma and Resilience: Seven Secrets to Becoming Stronger in the Broken Places, on March 20, leverages the experiences of Rachel Cipriano, author and founder/CEO of Magnificent Resilience, LLC, to offer a guided path toward resilience.

A product of 13 years of writing, Cipriano’s book prompts her to reflect on her upbringing. The only surviving member of her family of origin, Cipriano, lost her family members in sudden and tragic ways. Compounded by struggles with her mental health, these events became experiences that each lent Cipriano a building block of resilience.
Cipriano hopes to give readers strategies to cultivate strong relationships and instill in them the courage to open up to people they feel safe with. She also aims to impart the knowledge and wisdom that she has amassed, encouraging readers to practice introspection and let go of any pressure to live up to others’ expectations.

The longevity of Cipriano’s writing process was never a matter of insufficient content but one of hesitant vulnerability. “I know I’m not meant to feel shame about my experiences and I’ve put in the work to make sure that’s not the case,” she explains. “Putting these memories and experiences on paper and then giving them to the world is still a deeply vulnerable decision to make.”
The book caters to those venturing on their own journeys of navigating life after difficult experiences. “I believe that this book will significantly help others who struggle with their mental health because that’s been my Achilles’ heel,” she says.
Cipriano holds a particularly soft spot for military members and their families. “In my father, I’ve seen the struggles that they go through and the way that society labels and treats them,” she says. “I have a real heart for the community.”
Cipriano’s book is an extension of the coaching work that she has been doing since 2009. As the founder and CEO of Magnificent Resilience, Cipriano helps individuals and company executives realize their potential by helping them identify and overcome personal hurdles to ultimately build resilience.
Magnificent Resilience’s life coaching aims to improve individuals’ relationships, stress management, wellness practices and emotional stability amid family issues. Clients can purchase a 3-month package of one-to-one coaching, complete with virtual consultations, in-person sessions, phone calls, homework and written material. Group-based sessions are also a budget-friendly option.
An avid learner, Cipriano’s memory of intellectual curiosity goes back to childhood, when she opened her first psychology book. Her love for exploring the mental health space steadily grew, and she opted to pursue psychology and counseling at the university. Her career then steered her to interacting with mental health and addiction patients in psychiatric centers, where she worked to perfect the art of connecting deeply with others.

With this same connection maintained as the pillar of her work, Cipriano values the relationships she builds with her clients. “Learning and sharing how to overcome personal struggles is always a focus, but it lands more effectively when there’s a heart-to-heart connection,” she says. “I really value establishing that relationship as a foundation.”
Today, Cipriano’s story has come full circle. From opening a psychology book at seven years old to now debuting her own, she hopes to continue as a beacon of resilience for those trying to navigate their own struggles. “I want to be a voice for people trying to bounce back from their hardships because I’ve recovered myself,” says Cipriano. “Once you build up enough of a foundation of resilience, you’ll always have that to fall back on, and you’ll keep adding to it each time.”
