November 20, 2019: Step by step
Giant footprints appeared in the sand on Whitby Bay Beach in North Yorkshire, England. The art, commissioned by an energy company in the United Kingdom, compares the “carbon footprint” of gas and diesel cars on U.K. roads to the footprint of electric vehicles. This photo shows game five of the MLB 2019 World Series at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. At the top of the second inning, Houston Astros batter Yordan Alvarez hit a two-run home run. The ball flew into the stands and hit a Washington Nationals fan holding two beers. Whoops! The fan was later dubbed a “hero” by Bud Light.
July 8, 2019: Baby deer buffet

A crafty bird lands on the nose of a baby deer to feast on insects that are stuck to its body. The meeting between the deer and the bird took place in the early morning light at Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in India. The bird had already tried the trick five minutes earlier but came back to try again. The deer raises its head in annoyance as the bird lands to hunt for breakfast. October 1, 2019: Nature’s sense of humor
A sign reads, “This road floods,” as high tide covers roads (and this sign!) in the village of Bosham in West Sussex, England. Visitors and residents are warned to keep an eye on the tide as the water can flood the area very quickly. If you can’t read the rest of the sign, it’s too late.

A picture taken by a drone shows French-Swiss artist Saype posing in his giant biodegradable land-art painting in Switzerland. The 246-foot long painting was made using biodegradable colors made out of charcoal, chalk, water, and milk proteins. September 8, 2019: A whale of a kite
A whale-shaped kite flies above Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia at the 41st Annual Festival of the Winds. The event is one of the largest kite festivals in the world and draws over 40,000 visitors each year. In addition to impressive kite flying, live performances, food booths, and other activities make the festival a fun day for all ages.
