15 Genius Ingredients to Add to Your PB&J
The PB&J is a quick classic. But we’ve got 10 ways to make sure today’s lunch isn’t plain ol’ peanut butter.

The average American eats a whopping 2,983 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in a lifetime. They don’t all have to be the same! Here are our 10 best peanut butter sandwich ideas that are anything but boring.
Cinnamon and raisins

Swap out your everyday whole wheat bread in favor of super-tasty cinnamon swirl. Don’t forget to add some raisins before you “close” the sandwich, or maybe a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar!
Spread on a thin layer of cream cheese. It’s heavenly with the jam, plus every tablespoon of cream cheese is worth an extra 1g of protein. If you were curious, this is where peanut butter and jelly sandwiches came from in the first place.
You’ve probably added bananas to your PB&J. But how about sliced strawberry (amazing with strawberry jam), apple (a tart variety like Granny Smith) or even grapes?
This is an ingredient that’s irresistible! Swirl honey into your peanut butter and that sandwich will be extra-sweet. It’s even better when the honey is warm.
The classic “fluffernutter” sandwich pairs PB with cloud-like marshmallow fluff. (You’ll pick up s’more points if you add Nutella, too.)
Sprinkle on a layer of cereal–like Cocoa Pebbles, Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Honey Nut Cheerios–for extra crunch. (Wait to do this ’til right before you eat!)

You heard it here first: PB&J&C is the new PB&J. We’d recommend using brie, or even shredded gouda. To take it up a notch, add slices of pear, butter the outside of the sandwich and grill it to golden gooey perfection.
Bacon (of course!)

No PB&J list would be complete without a recommendation for “the Elvis”—a sandwich with peanut butter, banana and bacon. The salty-sweet goodness of this one is near-impossible to resist.
Add some heat to this sweet sandwich with sriracha sauce. A drizzle of this will give the PB&J a little kick—just don’t overdo it!

Go beyond cookie butter and try actual cookies! A few crumbled up chocolate chip cookies, gingersnaps or shortbread are a great way to add crunch, sweetness, and flavor.
