Potatoes are cheap, nutritious, and versatile. But until some fancy tech startup invents a self-peeling potato, any would-be potato eater needs to do battle with peeling it first. Peeling a potato isn’t that difficult, but if you’re peeling a whole bunch of them for a holiday feast, the work really adds up. But you could make your life a whole lot easier by changing up your peeling technique. Foody Tube revealed a revelatory way of peeling taters, and you’re going to want to take notes. All you need for this potato hack is a knife and a pot of water.
The process is simple. Take your spuds and trace a skin-deep slice around the midsection. Once you’ve made your equators, drop the potatoes into a pot of boiling water and wait about 5-10 minutes. Then remove your potato from the water and simply pinch each half of the skin off entirely.
This technique will save you some time, guarantee that you won’t slice off any of the potato core, and make sure that your recipe has a richer taste, as a lot of the potato’s flavor can be found in the skin.
