If you’re ready to give your standard pony a major upgrade—and you’ve already tried these quick and easy ponytail hacks—read on for the secrets behind the chic updo Matthew Morris of Mathew Morris Salons created for the runway.
Keep in mind that different hair types will require different styling products. “For this look, one model needed more L’Oréal Professionnel Densite while another model needed L’Oréal Professionnel Liss Control.“
Here’s how to pull off the New York Fashion Week pony:
Courtesy L’Oreal ProfessionelWork a control serum through hair to calm frizz and add natural shine, and flat iron from the nape. Morris recommends L’Oréal Professionnel Liss Control.
Spray a hair thickening primer at the roots to add fullness at the crown, and blow dry into the hair. Morris likes L’Oréal Professional Densité.
Courtesy L’Oreal ProfessionelDivide the hair from ear to ear across the head and create a side part on the front hair. On the back hair, divide into two symmetrical ponytails.
Take small sections from each side of the front hair and bring to the opposite ponytail, securing each section with a hair band. Spray each section with an anti-frizz hairspray—Morris uses L’Oréal Professionnel Infinium 3. You can also try Oribe Imperméable Anti-Humidity Spray.
