If you don’t like tofu, it’s probably because you aren’t preparing it right. If made properly, tofu is a delicious alternative protein source. And because it takes on the taste of whatever it’s cooked with or marinated in, tofu is very versatile and can be used in any type of dish.
The first and most important step is to press the tofu. Pressing the tofu drains all the liquid out of it. You can do this the makeshift way — place the block of tofu in a bowl, put a paper towel on top of it, and then put a heavy object, such as a book, on top of the tofu for 15 minutes to press out the moisture. Or you can go the easy route and buy a tofu press. Next, all you need to do is cut it, marinate it in your favorite sauce, and broil for 5 minutes on each side. You’ll be left with tofu that is crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside.
