Target or Amazon?
Target is known for quality, affordable products, and we’ll never say no to a trip to the red and white aisles of one of our favorite shops, but there are some things we leave out of the cart on our Target runs. The following items can be found at another Reader’s Digest favorite for even less. While these items aren’t as inexpensive as these 13 things you can get for free on Amazon, they are still really budget-friendly.
Note: Prices listed were accurate as of press time; pricing fluctuations may occur.
Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 Instant Camera
$69.00
Looking to get a trendy gift for your favorite millennial or Gen Z kid? This mini instant camera is a must-have for a lot of people! It comes in a variety of colors and Target will sell it to you for $69.99. Amazon, on the other hand, will only take $69.00 from you! Saving is still saving, no matter the price difference. Amazon Prime Day is coming up so make sure you’re ready!
Swimsuits
$9.99
The least expensive swimsuit we could find on Target’s website still cost $14.99 on super-sale. Full price suits began at $29.99, and ran much, much higher. However a quick look on Amazon, and we fell in love with this suit with 4.6 stars for only $9.99!
KitchenAid Standing Mixer
$399.87
A mixer is a staple in most kitchens, but this brand, in particular, is more of an investment than a quick buy. However, if you’re heading to Target to get yours, think again. Target’s five-quart professional mixer is typically sold at $449.99 before tax (on sale at time of publication for $299.99), whereas with Amazon’s identical product, you’ll “only” be shelling out $399.87. You get the same three base attachments with both purchases (paddle mixer, dough hook, and wire whisk) but the additional attachments made by KitchenAid are also sold at a slight discount on Amazon.
Tide Pods
$19.97
Target has good deals on laundry essentials, such as a 73 count pack of Tide Pods for only $21.99. Unfortunately, Amazon has them beat with an 81 count pack of the same brand for only $19.97. Laundry cleaner is just the beginning. Who knew you could get these 20 odd but useful home products on Amazon?
TV stands
$198.00
We found nearly identical TV stands at both Target and Amazon. The difference? The Target version cost $239.99 (note: The Target version was on sale at the time of publication. Full-priced, this product is $299.99) and the Amazon variation was only $198.00 and had an additional feature that the Target variation didn’t have: sliding barn doors! For an additional cost, Amazon will also send someone to your house to assemble the product, an option Target did not offer.
Your LBD
$12.99 to $27.99
Who doesn’t love a little black dress? It’s a classic look that many women want in their closet, but when it’s time to replace yours, where should you turn? Amazon of course! This dress from Amazon is one of our favorites—it’s earned 4.5 stars with nearly 2,000 reviews and it starts at $12.99! While some sizes and color options do cost more (up to $27.99), it will still run you less than Target’s comparable option, which costs $29.99. Amazon also has a lot more options if these styles aren’t for you.
Bookshelves
$79.99
One of our favorite designs for our bookshelves are these ladder shelves, but we’ll be putting them in our Amazon cart. The Target version at $130.00 caught our eyes first, but a little searching found a similar product on Amazon for almost $50 less! Who knew you could get such great things on Amazon? We’re almost as excited as when we found these 15 hidden gems from Amazon you’ll wish you owned.
Bath towels
$39.49
We love what a nice matching towel set does to make your bathroom look a little fancy, but we also love saving money! Which is why we’re passing on this six-piece set from Target at $44.99 and sticking with Amazon’s version, which is only going to cost us $39.49. No matter what you buy, here are 10 tips for making your towels last longer.
Cell phone cases
$24.95
We found HUGE savings on cell phone cases at Amazon. Across brands and phone types, Amazon sold their phone cases less expensively. To get the highly praised OtterBox at Target, you’ll have to spend $33.99, but the same case at Amazon, depending on the color, will only run you $24.95. But don’t think you have to give up your Target habit altogether! You may not be buying these 29 things at Target, but you definitely should be.
