Canadian airline WestJet delivered holiday cheer for 250 passengers on a flight to Calgary. The airline placed a digital Santa Claus at an airport, and asked passengers what they wanted for Christmas. While the customers were in the air, 175 Westjet workers at the destination sprinted to nearby stores and bought everything, from socks to a big-screen TV. As sleepy passengers went to baggage claim for their belongings, out came all of the presents.

Recently, 26-year-old Jackie Turner posted a Craigslist ad offering to rent a mom and dad for the holidays, since the California native doesn't have family to swap presents with. Turner also offered to pay the couple $8 an hour to hang
out with her on Christmas. The result: Turner received so many offers that she had to shut down her ad. And instead of just two guests, she will spend the holidays with a giant, makeshift family made up of various people who responded to her ad.

In early December 2013 various small businesses, including A Cup of Common Wealth coffee shop in Lexington, KY, were robbed. Instead of standing by, the coffee shop put their pay-it-forward movement into effect: Anyone who shops at a targeted store gets a free cup of coffee. The coffee shop is also sharing its Christmas tree with the town, inviting residents to pick up or drop off a gift.
