Stories About Snowmass

Snowmass is filled with characters, each of which with a unique story and deep affection for the community at large. Take Darce Vold, for example. Darce is a third generation stock contractor, who runs the Snowmass Rodeo, one of the longest continuously running rodeos in the state. She has been in Snowmass for 21 years, making sure the rodeo runs smoothly every summer. She is the nicest woman you will ever meet and is able to coordinate all rodeo participants, staff, and guests with poise and grace. She is always available to answer a question or give background on rodeo events.

Nancy and Wolf Gensch moved from Germany to Snowmass in 1972, working as ski instructors, at the hospital, and as owners of a local building company. As long standing members of the community, they have stories galore to tell.

Every year the Town of Snowmass Village brings together employees and community members for an all town cleanup day, including cleaning of the streets and trails, free lunch, and lots of games.

The work/life balance makes Snowmass one of the nicest places to live. Many businesses, including the local Town of Snowmass Village, offers employees time off to ski, and you can’t hike or bike in the summer without running into someone you know. Even if you don’t, everyone on the trail will say “hi” to you. Snowmass is full of people invested in making the community one of the most pleasant places to live in the valley.
