As a substitute teacher, I get to work in many elementary schools, but Lovin Elementary is without a doubt the happiest. Happy teachers make for a better learning environment, and the students are engaged and love learning. The school partners with the community in many ways to make positive change for everyone. Lovin’s impact stems far beyond the local community, as Lovin has a special relationship with another school in Bizoton, Haiti. Lovin students and teachers have sent them 41 boxes of books and counting, in addition to clothes and school supplies. The project was originally started by three teachers and quickly turned school-wide. In Haiti, the school opened a media center and named it Lovin Bibliothéque in honor of Lovin Elementary.

We got STEM-certified, had our ribbon cutting for our STEAM garden, performed the best chorus concert ever, and just greeted our newest TIGERS during Kindergarten round-up. As a volunteer in the Media Center, I feel the love every week from the staff and the students and get a lift from my shift. They make me feel like one of the family. The staff always goes all out in every thing they do. Wonder Week Workshop is just one of many awesome programs.

“From photojournalism, to gardening, to piano lessons, to African dance, to yoga, to Zen coloring, to making bath bombs, to softball, to cheerleading, to food science, to baking, to game night, to candle making, to tie dying, to music recording, to creating goody bags for newly adopted dogs, to making chicken toys, to crocheting, to videography, Wonder Workshop Week is off to a great start! A special shout out to the ladies from the Yarn Garden Knit Shop in Lawrenceville who are here teaching students to knit, and to Publix who came today to teach students to bake.”
