Experience

Caroline is a dog-breed expert who has written 34 books about dogs, including the top-selling Barron's Encyclopedia of Dog Breeds. An inductee in the Dog Writers Association of America Hall of Fame, she also covers consumer and scientific topics about dogs for newspapers, websites, television, brands such as the American Kennel Club and Purina, and even an app.

Caroline holds a PhD in psychology from Florida State University, with research interests in canine behavior, senses, genetics and neuropsychology—all of which grew out of trying to train her own dogs to come when called. She has competed in dog sports since 1975, and her saluki dogs have been ranked among the top conformation, obedience, coursing and agility competitors in their breed. Once in a while, they even come when they're called, but they mostly make sure she's lured away from her computer enough to remind her that the best part of living with dogs is having fun!
