Katie got her start as a travel writer reporting on what to see and do in the small towns of her home state of South Carolina. In the two decades since, she has slurped eels in Chile, gone ice diving in France, crushed grapes in Portugal, crash-landed a hang glider in a cow pasture in Peru and hiked, trekked, skied, jogged and walked her way through more than 40 countries. Along the way, she's shared tips and stories from chefs, architects, historians, scientists, exercise physiologists, wine makers and other professionals, writing about everything from cleaning and staying fit to keeping pets safe. Those stories have appeared in Real Simple, Town & Country, Southern Living, Sherman's Travel, Modern Bride, Bride's and Destination Weddings & Honeymoons.
