A Certified Professional Dog Trainer with more than 13 years of experience, Stephanie has also been a freelance writer for close to a decade, publishing more than 400 articles on dog behavior, training and health for the American Kennel Club, Cottage Life, The Old Farmer’s Almanac and more. Her Master of Science in animal behavior and Bachelor of Science in ecology and evolution lend a scientific approach to her work, and she regularly participates in canine continuing-education courses and workshops to maintain her dog-training certification.

Stephanie has also written six books, including Can’t Get Enough Dog Stuff for National Geographic Kids and Making Sense of Dog Senses: How Our Furry Friends Experience the World. Her writing has received honors from the Dog Writers Association of America and the Junior Library Guild.

Stephanie and her Chihuahua-mastiff mix, Chi Chi, used to do agility together and achieved their Advanced Trick Dog title, though now that Chi Chi is 17 years old, his favorite trick is snoozing on the couch.
