Missed your chance to score a post-Christmas TV deal? It’s not too late. March is actually the second-best month of the year to buy a new TV (November is the first), says Julie Ramhold, consumer analyst with DealNews.com. “The reason we tend to see so many TV deals in March is that manufacturers are getting ready to release new models, so retailers are trying to clear out old stock,” Ramhold says. “It also could have to do with the fact that March isn’t exactly known for deals—it’s kind of lacking in that department, so some stores will offer deals just to boost sales during a slow time.” While prices won’t be as great as those around Black Friday, you can still expect to see name-brand 50″ sets from $300 at stores like Best Buy and Rakuten. But keep an eye out at Dell, as well, because it often bundles gift cards with its TV deals, which makes the sets even more appealing, Ramhold says. One to keep an eye on is this Samsung Flat 65-inch Ultra HD Smart TV. Consider picking up a universal remote like this smart remote that pairs with over 650,000 devices to go with your new TV.

March wraps up what’s known as “wave season” in the cruise travel industry, so it’s a great time to book a cruise trip, Ramhold says. Don’t worry, despite the name, this isn’t a time when waters are choppy making for rough trips. “It’s actually called ‘wave season’ because agencies experience a wave of bookings from January to March,” she says. We expect to see cruises offering rates as low as $235 per person, and it’ll be common to see four-night cruises to warm locales like Cuba and Cozumel. And if you want something longer, expect seven-night cruises from New York City to the Bahamas for around $698 for two, she says. Can’t decide which cruise to take? Here are 10 of the best cruise lines in the world. This 10-day Inside Passage cruise on Princess Cruises from San Francisco to Alaska and back again starts at $1,299.

We see more deals on luggage during March than in February, April, or May, so it’s a good time to refresh your luggage even if you aren’t planning a trip anytime soon, Ramhold suggests. Simple day packs could be as low as $4 while hard-side luggage sets will go for as little as $88 from certain brands. Samsonite will likely have a sale taking up to 50 percent off, as well as offering an extra discount, and if you shop the brand at eBay, you can expect a discount of an extra 15 percent off or so, Ramhold says. “Luggage is likely going on sale because of the summer months of travel ahead, but also again because March is so light on holidays and therefore deals and sales in general,” Ramhold says. Here are 7 signs of a well-made piece of luggage. This three-piece set from Coolife Luggage can be used by the whole family.

Not many retailers will opt to brand a sale around this holiday, but there should still be a handful to check out. “Last year we saw sales from Dell Refurbished Store, which took 40 percent off any item and offered free shipping to boot,” Ramhold says. “Plus, Vudu took 50 percent off select downloads, and DiscountMags offered 1-year subscriptions for as little as $5.” Here’s why we wear green on St. Patrick’s Day.

On March 14, it’s National Pi Day. While math enthusiasts will be celebrating with some fun equations, the rest of us should race to the supermarket for some great deals on actual pies. Many supermarkets and bakeries will be selling those lovely pies for just $3.14 (or they’re taking $3.14 off the price of their pies) to honor National Pi Day. Last year, Goldbelly had 40 percent off their pies for most of the month through the 14th, while Uber Eats offered $3.14 off, and Whole Foods was selling their large bakery pies, like the French apple tart (shown above), for $3.14 off.
