Surrounded by a friendly, supportive, and inviting community in northeast Charlotte, the 16,000-square-foot Hickory Grove Branch is reminiscent of the libraries of yesteryear where everybody knew your name. Time seems to stand still as you browse for a book or read the newspaper. Our library is more than just a place to borrow books; we are a vibrant community space that has a lot going on for all ages! We have wide range of library enterprises including children’s story time, academic research, school homework support, genealogy research, and a senior’s book club. It’s a safe and welcoming environment where you can get help with things like downloading an application to your device or participate in one of our five weekly story times. School children can get help with reading via one of our many trained volunteers or join one of our many book clubs to discuss what they’ve been reading. We have book club groups for all ages. Hickory Grove Library is a place where people treat each other with dignity and respect and assume the best of strangers.

Stories About Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, Hickory Grove Branch

Recently, a woman came into our branch who had just relocated to our area from out of state. She had three young and hungry children. The librarian called a community contact at a local food bank. The food bank organizer picked up the woman at the library and helped her get food for her family. The woman called the librarian a few weeks later and said her situation was improving and wanted to thank the people at the Hickory Grove Library for connecting her with community resources.
