Dear Santa…

Each year, the town of Santa Claus, Indiana, receives tens of thousands of letters to Santa. A team of elves responds to each one that arrives before December 21 (Santa gets a bit busy after that!) and catalogs them at the Santa Claus Museum for future believers to enjoy. Here, a few of our favorites—you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll rejoice that you were never actually able to trade your mom for a dog. To help you get in the Christmas spirit, read through these true stories of kids meeting Santa.

I would even trade my mom for a dog

I know I haven’t been taking care of my Giga dog but it is not real and a dog would be. Santa, I would even trade my one and only Mom for a dog. I knew that a dog would be a big responsibility but I have been bugging my Dad since I was three and I’m tired of it! Love, Megan.” Get into the holiday spirit even further with our definitive list of the top 40 Christmas movies ever.
