This Royal Family Member Just Confirmed Their Attendance at King Charles’s Coronation

Updated: Apr. 12, 2023

We finally have an answer as to whether this family member will be attending the historic event

With just a few weeks to go until the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla, attention has been turned to every detail coming out about the event. From the crown Queen Camilla will use to the role Prince George will play, no stone has been left unturned—except one.

The question on everyone’s minds lately has been whether Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will actually attend this historic event. The couple have been silent on the attendance of themselves and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, hardly a surprise to anyone who’s read the duke’s bestselling memoir Spare, Prince Harry’s blockbuster tell-all about his strained relationship with the royal family. But now, we finally have an answer.

Will Harry attend King Charles’s coronation?

Yes, Prince Harry will be in attendance at his father’s coronation. Buckingham Palace confirmed the news in a statement today, saying they were “pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th.”

Will Meghan attend King Charles’s coronation?

Unfortunately, no. We will not see the Duchess of Sussex—or the young Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet—at the coronation ceremony. In the same statement, Buckingham Palace noted that “the Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

So, while we won’t get to see the full Sussex family during this historic occasion, we’re excited to see Prince Harry and learn what role, if any, he might play in the crowning of his father.
