Rising style stars

Fashion is one of the most popular forms of self-expression and creativity. But finding (and defining) your personal style can be complicated. Whether you’re drawn to timeless design or you prefer something more experimental and edgy, there’s something intimate and unique about personal style. And while seasonal trends and style tips from influencers can be great sources of inspiration, why not look to the stars for info about your signature style?

That’s right. Following your zodiac sign is an innate way to help define your style. “Most people don’t know they can use astrology and intuitive styling to refine their aesthetic,” says professional style oracle Gabriela Rosales. “There’s a lot you can learn from the stars about which styles are empowering to wear.”

Aries (March 21–April 19): Streetwear

Aries like to keep things playfully professional when it comes to fashion. They love to express themselves in the clothing styles they choose. As a mover and shaker, they need a wardrobe that looks good and feels comfortable all day long, which is why they prefer streetwear style—casual, fashionable clothing that’s always on the cutting edge of culture.

“Aries is the type to have a streamlined wardrobe of high-quality basics and statement accessories, like outerwear, shoes, bags and makeup,” says Rosales. From the boardroom to the after-party, Aries are cool enough to pull it off. Not only does this keep them looking fresh and feeling good, but it also lets them embrace that forever-young philosophy on life.

Taurus (April 20–May 20): Old-money aesthetic

Taurus is the knower of quality, which is why their personal style prioritizes quality and elegance. As an earth sign, Taurus is drawn to more muted colors and sleek silhouettes. They like to keep most of their closet filled with capsule wardrobe staples that can be worn regularly. And if they do decide to show off, it’s done with quiet designer labels and boutique fashion—that’s what makes the old-money aesthetic a great fit.

“Taurus loves luxury and opulence,” Rosales says. “They’re drawn to fabrics and materials that are soft to the touch and beautiful to behold.” At its core, this style is all about creating an outfit that oozes status and power, without being too flashy. The old-money aesthetic isn’t so much about being rich as it is about looking expensive—like you’ve invested in your appearance. You can create an old-money look for any occasion, as long as you focus on selecting elevated pieces.

Gemini Trendsetting

Gemini (May 21–June 20): Trendsetting

Gemini loves to keep people guessing, and they have a vibrant wardrobe to match those chameleon-like vibes. Gemini style can be tricky to pin down because Geminis dress so differently from one person to the next. In a room full of Geminis, no two people would have the same style, taste or style secrets. This is why the only label that could truly fit a free-thinker fashionista like a Gemini is the tenacious trendsetter.

“Gemini tends to reject whatever the current style may be and prefers to cultivate their own idea of what’s fashionable,” says professional astrologer Roya Buckland. “You’ll often see Geminis going through phases in their outfits, following trends—both old and new—that make sense to them.” As an air sign, Geminis are tastemakers who are always on the hunt for the next best thing. Gemini’s aesthetic is very playful and quirky. It borrows from several sources of inspiration and marries classic style conventions with the latest micro-trends.

Cancer Casual comfort

Cancer (June 21–July 22): Casual comfort

Cancer style is relaxed, easy, breezy, comfortable—and chic. It’s both casual and elegant without being high maintenance. There’s something so laid-back about the way Cancers carry themselves, so is it any surprise they have a cozy personal aesthetic to match? Cancers like to look cute, but they’re not willing to sacrifice comfort. And while they might not be the edgiest dresser out there, they still know how to pull together a stunning look. That’s why we think the comfy girl aesthetic was made for them.

A variation of the “soft girl” trend, this style is defined by soft silhouettes, cutesy fashion accessories and most important, loose, comfortable fabrics. “Cancers tend to wear clothing that really accentuates their body and makes them feel confident in their skin,” says Buckland. “You’ll see them wearing a flattering yet cozy pair of pants or a cinched, flowy summer dress that draws attention to their natural beauty.” They might also channel the power of their planetary ruler, the Moon, with silver jewelry and pearl accents.

Leo Bold and colorful

Leo (July 23–Aug. 22): Bold and colorful

When it comes to making a fashion statement, Leo isn’t content to play it safe. Someone with their ferocity and boldness would never be content with a dull or lifeless wardrobe. It’s easy to assume that Leo’s style skews gaudy. But make no mistake, this fire sign is very good at knowing what’s on trend. “Leo style is bold in its ability to have the perfect placement of the perfect garments and accessories,” says Rosales. “Leo’s aesthetic is all about cohesiveness, taking a simple look and taking it to the next level.”

For Leo, the focus is less on copying what other people have already deemed fashionable. Leos need to feel inspired by what they’re wearing! And if they’re looking for a new way to elevate that look, try dressing for the color season. Color seasons are used to determine which shades and hues harmonize with your natural beauty. With this knowledge, you can create a color-coordinated wardrobe designed to bring out your best look.

virgo Country club classic

Virgo (Aug. 23–Sept. 22): Country club classic

Virgo’s personal style is crisp, practical, structured and minimalist in its design. Always polished and refined, they have a way of commanding attention without overdoing it. Virgos like to invest in pieces that have longevity and multi-season use. They’re not the type to drop money on designer labels or one-use garments for the sake of being on-trend. Virgos know that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to look like a million bucks.

“Virgo loves to look clean and well-manicured, but they also prioritize unique accessories and subtle touches that make their ensemble unique to them,” says Buckland. “They love knowing each item they wear carries meaning.” That’s why we think they’ll love the vintage charm of the country club style. This aesthetic is based on the clean and classic style worn in the beachside towns on the eastern seaboard. Think cardigan sweaters, monogrammed bags and plenty of Breton stripes. This style is simple but effortlessly chic, just like you, Virgo!

Libra Tomato girl aesthetic

Libra (Sept. 23–Oct. 22): Tomato girl aesthetic

We think the tomato girl aesthetic is the perfect fit for Libra’s flirtatious side. This style is all about capturing the look of a summer abroad in Europe. You’re in your Eat, Pray, Love era—think perfectly tailored linen pants, sweetheart necklines and gold jewelry to emulate the sunshine. The tomato girl aesthetic is effortlessly stylish and sultry while still commanding attention. It’s all about letting your natural beauty shine through, so less is more.

Feminine and charming, Libras know the importance of making a good first impression. They like to go out and have a good time, making friends, making connections and making memories. And they want to look good doing it. “Ruled by Venus, Libra aesthetic is sleek and traditionally feminine. It’s soft, sexy and chic with a hint of structure,” says Rosales. “Represented by the scales, Libra’s style is a balance between feminine and badass.” Next, learn what your sun, moon and rising sign mean for you together.

Scorpio Whimsi-goth

Scorpio (Oct. 23–Nov. 21): Whimsi-goth

Scorpios love to push the limits in life—and personal style. They gravitate toward fashion trends that embrace the mysterious, alluring or taboo side. And this doesn’t have to mean dressing provocatively, of course. Sometimes, it can mean channeling fashion subcultures, like punk or goth. But it can also mean inventing your own unique, edgy style. “There’s nothing a Scorpio loves more than having a signature look,” says Buckland. “You’ll often find that Scorpios have a signature scent or a signature nail polish color and rarely veer off-course.”

So if you’re a Scorpio looking for a fashion aesthetic that encourages a little freedom of expression, you’ll love the whimsi-goth look. This trend reached its peak of popularity in the ’90s and features witchy, ethereal styles of clothing with rich colors, lush fabrics and whimsical designs. Whimsi-goth is the perfect blend of dark romanticism and Bohemian aesthetics—just add some celestial-themed jewelry and a Stevie Nicks-inspired shawl, and you’re set!

ssagittarius Cluttercore

Sagittarius (Nov. 22–Dec. 21): Cluttercore

Dynamic and daring, Sagittarius isn’t afraid to embrace the wild side of fashion. Their sense of style is loud and colorful to match that extroverted personality—with plenty of surprises in each layer. Sagittarius likes to dress in a way that stands out. Being stylish or on-trend isn’t as important as using their freedom of expression. And because they live such an active lifestyle, the outfit needs to be just as practical as it is provocative.

Sagittarius is the master of color clashing and pairing garments that shouldn’t work together, yet look amazing. And they’re a big fan of reusing and upcycling old clothing. This is why we think cluttercore works so well. “Sagittarius style is dynamic, adventurous and ready for anything,” says Rosales. “It has a maximalist aesthetic that is heavy on prints, patterns and textures and mixes them all up to create ensembles that only this fire sign could pull off.”

capricorn Quiet luxury

Capricorn (Dec. 22–Jan. 19): Quiet luxury

Capricorns like to dress to impress, which is why the quiet luxury aesthetic is the perfect choice for this breezy and chic sign. They lead a very demanding lifestyle and need a personal style that commands authority and attention while still being refined. It’s not like them to step outside their usual fashion tastes. Elevated classics are their favorite thing to wear for pretty much any occasion. And they’ll never go wrong with carefully selected clothing that works well together.

Quiet luxury trades clout-chasing and brand recognition in favor of high-quality designs from lesser-known designers. Meaning, even if people can’t place exactly where you bought something, they can still tell you’re a fashion insider. “Capricorn style is elegant and prestigious but always practical,” says Rosales. “Their wardrobe is a mix of elegance and utilitarianism. They prefer structure in their clothing pieces, and high-quality garments are non-negotiable.”

Aquarius Rock star girlfriend

Aquarius (Jan. 20–Feb. 18): Rock star girlfriend

Aquarius style is innovative, unconventional, eccentric and downright weird at times. They love to express individuality and never conform to the status quo. They’re someone who’s drawn to the unique and unusual, and they “don’t give a damn about their bad reputation”—so long as they’re free to be themselves. That’s what makes the rock star girlfriend look the perfect fashion trend for a daring risk taker, like this adventurous sign.

This aesthetic borrows from all the best elements of the edgy and grunge style rock stars are known for— with an added feminine touch. Think leather mixed with lace or pairing combat boots with your favorite summer dress. Plus, it offers a whole new set of fashion rules to learn (and break). “Aquarius is the sign of unconventional style. No f’s given!” says Rosales. “They have a reputation for being a sign of chaos, but even in its unconventionality, there is a method to the Aquarian madness.”

pisces coastal cowgirl style

Pisces (Feb. 19–March 20): Coastal cowgirl

Pisces like to wear clothes that showcase creativity. “Pisces style is whimsical, dreamy and fun,” says Rosales, “which often manifests in a Bohemian and romantic style. They also have an affinity for vintage and handmade items that they find at flea markets, swap meets and resale stores.” Which is why the coastal cowgirl aesthetic just makes sense. It’s a mix of Bohemian-inspired beachwear and Western wear and is defined by neutral color palettes, soft fabrics, such as lace, cotton, denim and linen, as well as fun and funky accessories. What makes the coastal cowgirl fashion trend a real winner is how easily you can switch between styles.

Pisces likes to go with the fashion flow and try their hand at new trends—and we think the coastal cowgirl aesthetic is the right blend of futuristic fun and retro funk.
