If you feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of podcasts that exist, you’re not alone. How does one choose? Should you tune in to chats on investment strategies or killers caught in cars? Podcasts cover everything from daily news bulletins and true-crime investigations to pop culture chitchat, comedy and more. So before adding a new show to your queue, look to your zodiac for inspiration.
The 12 signs are archetypes that connect to deeper character traits than simply meet the eye. Geminis aren’t just social, their mythology mirrors Hermes the messenger. And what about Scorpios? They aren’t just intense, they intensely want to understand the psychology of human nature. Our signs’ great obsessions are a fun way to find some exciting listening material.
Everyone has opinions about the best podcasts. And one of the reasons we love these audio delights so much is because they allow us to go about our day and listen at the same time. We’ve already given thought to the best book based on your zodiac sign, but busy households and demanding jobs mean we can’t always cozy up and read. And sure, podcasts can sometimes serve as background noise. But often, we’re taking in really fabulous content while folding laundry or organizing client tasks. Aries (March 21–April 19): History
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, the most pioneering and bold, and the most likely to go where no human has gone before. That’s why historical podcasts about visionary leaders and brave warriors are such great fits for Aries folk. Like great written biographies, history podcasts put you into the mindset of the highest achievers of the world. Aries can’t get enough of motivational podcasts, and naturally, as someone who is always making things happen, Aries can relate. Their sign is more about action than talking, so it’s no wonder that even in a medium (podcasts) that revolves around talking, it’s the exciting wild leaps by courageous individuals that make their ears perk up.
Taurus (April 20–May 20): News and current events
Taurus is an earth sign and likes to know what is happening in the real world every day. That’s why news and current events podcasts, whether daily bulletins or long-form journalistic investigations, are at the top of the list for these bulls. People tend to feel grounded around Taureans (they are considered the most trustworthy zodiac sign) and with good reason. These folks keep up with what’s going on in the world. They want to be able to make important decisions, whether it’s where to invest money, how to buy property or where the best art (they are ruled by Venus!) is being exhibited. Podcasts that report current events and dig deep into long-form journalism are made for them.
Gemini (May 21–June 20): Gabfest
Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication and conversation. Luckily, an entire genre of podcast called “the gabfest” has emerged, and it’s a perfect fit for chatty Geminis. Symbolized by the twins, Gemini loves to bounce off someone who is as brainy as they are. Since gabfests aren’t made for one, Geminis thrill over the dynamic of debating, joking, learning, connecting and then signing off with a laugh and a little more knowledge. Since they rank at the top of the list of funniest zodiac signs, they are likely to pick up even more hilarious material by tuning in to these smart, comical podcasts.
Cancer (June 21–July 22): Audio dramas
There is something timeless about Cancer. Perhaps it’s because they are ruled by the moon and can look up to the sky and see how the universe above reflects the people and events below. Audio dramas are right up Cancer’s alley, as these podcasts focus on storytelling. Old-fashioned Cancerians love to cozy up with a good book (especially women’s fiction and books that will tug at your heartstrings), but sometimes they’re driving or working or tending to chores and kids, and a podcast is a terrific solution. Cancerians are great listeners and are able to absorb the depth and details from audio dramas, while still going about their daily lives. They’re also likely to share the stories they heard with their loved ones, making this combination a win for all.
Leo (July 23–Aug. 22): Music podcasts
Leo is the sign of the performer. They love an audience and to dazzle a crowd. Leos adore the beauty and virtuosity of great musical artists. That’s why they vibe so well with music podcasts. Karaoke nights and singing in the car or shower bring Leos to life. They are ruled by the sun, so they gravitate toward sunny dispositions and are always looking for ways to be happier. Music ranks high on their list of passions. Since these lions are also leaders, they love to absorb some of the grand behind-the-scenes stories that come with the music of their choice. Virgo (Aug. 23–Sept. 22): True crime
Virgo is known as the most detail-oriented sign of the zodiac. And how do you solve a murder? Details, Watson! Despite having a reputation for purity of nature (these folks love to do the right thing), they have their shadow side too, and find true crime thrilling to analyze. Since they are tuned in to clues and notice the little things, they enjoy trying to solve dark mysteries before anyone else. They are probably familiar with true-crime podcasts already, but will be excited to learn about more. Virgos are known to be super clean, and what better activity to accompany dusting and vacuuming than a podcast on a cold case? They might even come across some evidence hidden in the couch cushions.
Libra (Sept. 23–Oct. 22): Pop culture
When it comes to socializing, Libras are operating on a professional level. Knowing oodles about pop culture helps them connect with people across the spectrum. Podcasts that specialize in “pop” matters are a favorite for tapped-in Librans. These charming folk are able to get along with anybody. Even on a road trip with a wild mix of characters, they know how to connect with all types. Come to think of it, they could probably create their own list of the best podcasts for road trips. Libras may be a little superficial at times, but they sure do know how to come up with icebreakers. Pop-culture podcasts are bound to arm them with plenty of fun facts and burning questions.
Scorpio (Oct. 23–Nov. 21): Investigative
Scorpio is known as the psychologist of the zodiac. Nobody digs deeper than these folks, which makes them truly click with investigative podcasts. In fact, their penetrating thought process has earned them a spot atop the list of most intelligent zodiac signs. No subject is too dark or strange for Scorpio, either. These unshockable people love to uncover the truth. Curious as cats, they really enjoy unlocking secrets—from the truth about UFOs to the deepest relationship secrets. Scorpios are known for their passion for peeling back the layers of the onion. And it shows in their taste in podcasts.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22–Dec. 21): Travel
Of all the signs, Sagittarius is the one most closely aligned with travel. These restless archers love to be on the go. And even if they are landlocked on staycation with the family, they still love to learn about faraway destinations. Sagittarians are also known to be great jokesters. Hilarious zodiac memes crack them up. You can be sure that when they do get the opportunity to travel, their sense of humor—both silly and worldly—will make them friends all over the globe. With a head for business, they know that you only get one chance to make a good first impression. Aquarius (Jan. 20–Feb. 18): Society and culture
Aquarians tend to see the world in terms of the greater good, not just what’s good for them. They know how to listen to podcasts and are not just paying lip service when they talk about making the world a better place. They put their money where their mouth is. These open-minded folk know that we are living in polarized times and really appreciate learning about diverse points of view. Pisces (Feb. 19–March 20): Self-help
Pisces are the last sign of the zodiac and known to possess the most empathy, as they have learned the lessons of all the signs that came before. That’s why they are deeply drawn to self-help podcasts, which include wellness and spirituality. They love to talk to their loved ones about soulful matters. In fact, they are probably well aware of which zodiac signs they are most compatible with. What they long for most is to dig deep into the well of human emotions.
