You Can Earn Delta Air Lines Miles by Drinking Starbucks—Here’s How

Updated: Jan. 13, 2023

Say hello to vacation with your next coffee order, thanks to this dreamy new partnership between Delta Air Lines and Starbucks.

Starbucks enthusiasts can enjoy more than a caffeine buzz after a coffee run. The coffee empire just made it easier for its customers to get one step closer to their next vacation.

Members of Delta Air Lines and Starbucks loyalty programs can now receive double the benefits through an exciting new partnership. The two have teamed up to allow customers to accumulate flight miles and enjoy Starbucks treats all in one easy purchase.

That’s right, your next macchiato or Starbucks secret menu drink might just help you save big on your next upcoming flight!

How can I access the joint benefits?

So how does this dream-team partnership work? To access the benefits, customers must be enrolled in both the Starbucks and Delta loyalty programs—Delta SkyMiles and Starbucks Rewards. Once enrolled, the two accounts must be linked to the partnership website.

After that, you’re all set! With each purchase, you’ll automatically earn miles and Starbucks Stars—the rewards points used to purchase discounted or free Starbucks goodies. You can enjoy every Starbucks order with the added bonus that for every dollar spent, a flight mile will be added to your next adventure.

Plus, the sooner you sign up, the better. Any member who links their accounts from now until the end of 2022 will automatically receive 150 Stars in their Starbucks account and 500 miles toward their Delta account. Sounds like we need to get our list of top vacation spots ready.

What are the benefits customers receive from the partnership?

After signing up, this partnership allows customers to:

  • earn one mile for every $1 spent at participating Starbucks stores
  • earn double Stars on all qualifying Starbucks purchases on any day you are scheduled to fly with Delta
  • earn 150 Stars when you link your account before 12/31/22
  • earn 500 SkyMiles when you link your account before 12/31/22

Wait, there’s more! Any passengers who traveled with Delta from Seattle on the day of the launch (Oct. 12), the birthplace of Starbucks in 1971, received a Starbucks card loaded with 150 stars.

What is the Starbucks “Reward Together” program?

Starbucks reward members don’t just have the benefit of earning Delta miles. Earlier in 2022, Starbucks launched its “Reward Together” program, allowing customers opportunities to earn even more Stars and benefits by linking their accounts to other company reward programs.

For now, Delta is the first company to partner with Starbucks as part of the program. And if any program is as good as free coffee and easier ways to travel, we can’t wait to see what comes next.

Can I access the program for free?

Yes, both the Starbucks Rewards and Delta SkyMiles programs are free to join. So enjoy your next iced latte or pumpkin spice drink with the added delight of dreaming up your next bucket-list adventure.

And for those who want to earn even more flight miles and benefits, Delta’s Skymiles Ticketmaster program is another way to rack up airline points. As an added bonus, members of the program can access free Wi-Fi onboard, as well.
