What We Know About the Bedsure Heated Blanket Recall

In the thick of winter, we’re all looking for ways to stay warm, especially at night. Electric and heated blankets are particularly popular options, given their cozy warmth and cost-effective price point.
However, if you purchased a heated blanket last year, it may be worth taking a closer look at your product to ensure it’s safe. While heated blankets can always pose a fire or burn risk, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently issued a recall on one particular product from Bedsure.
Here’s everything you need to know to stay both cozy and safe.
What Bedsure products are recalled?
As of March 9, 2023, about 350,000 heated blankets from the parent company Bedshe were recalled. The particular products affected are the Bedsure Electric Heating Blankets and Pads. The blankets are made of flannel or sherpa fabrics and were sold from August 2022 to November 2022 in throw, twin and full sizes. Every blanket has a white cord and a white controller unit.
Why are Bedsure Heated Blankets recalled?
The controller unit on the heated blankets and pads can malfunction. This poses a risk of fire and thermal burns. So far, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has received 137 reports of malfunction, including fires, burning, melting and overheating. Some of these cases have reported minor property damage and 17 of them report minor injuries. One user has suffered second-degree burns.
How do I know if I have a recalled product?
To figure out if you have a recalled product, the safest course of action is to check the model number. If your unit has one of the model numbers below, it has been recalled.

What should I do if I have a recalled product?
If you have one of the recalled heated blankets, stop using it immediately. Then, visit www.safety.bedsurehome.com to file for a refund. You will need to take photos of the blanket according to the instructions on the website. Bedsure is also working to contact all known purchasers. According to one affected customer and Reader’s Digest editor, Kelly Kuehn, “the whole process took about five minutes.” Even better, she “was notified that [her] refund was accepted the same day [she] registered for it.” So, if you have been unfortunately affected by this recall, you can take some comfort in knowing that the issue will be resolved swiftly.
