Updated: Sep. 24, 2023

Looking to shop till you drop? Or maybe you just need to pick up a few last-minute items for the weekend barbecue. Here's where you can (and can't) shop on Labor Day.

If you’re wondering, When is Labor Day?—it’s almost here! While many Americans will be spending Labor Day (which falls on Sept. 4 in 2023) enjoying the outdoors with family and friends on weekend getaways, others use the national holiday as a shopping day—after all, there are lots of great Labor Day sales. But not every store is open on the holiday—in fact, the holiday’s purpose is to honor and advocate for America’s workforce, so if you do go shopping on your day off, make sure to be respectful and courteous to those who are working.

Here’s a list of all the services and stores open on Labor Day this year—and a few that are closed. Since every store can set different hours, it’s best to call your local stores before heading out to shop.
